DO 'WE THE PEOPLE' YEARN FOR LIBERTY?

“A constitution, as important as it is, will mean nothing unless The People are yearning for liberty and freedom. If The People don’t care, then the best constitution in the world won’t make a difference . . ."

In January we watched as President Obama gave the annual “State of the Union” address. I heard a lot of rhetoric with empty promises along with assurances that those promises will bring more spending and more taxation. I heard no solutions of diminishing the national debt and there were no assurances of preserving American freedoms and liberties.

I took notes during the State of the Union address. What did you hear? I have to tell you, folks, I heard political one-liners, a campaign speech and some statements that if he or congress manage to accomplish, will most assuredly mean less freedom, fewer liberties and the taking away of states’ sovereignty. I heard SCAREY STUFF!! I did not hear a report of the “State of the Union.”

I chuckled at a few absurdities such as the time he said, “We can’t keep subsidizing college tuitions, we’ll run out of money.” Of course with a $16 trillion debt, I laughed at him and I tried to explain to him (through the television screen) that we’re already out of money. I “sassed back” a few times in disagreement, which is probably not proper behavior when addressing the President of the United States. It was okay though, if you noticed he didn’t look at the cameras or into the faces of American citizens; what does is it mean when a person doesn’t look you in the eye?

Lines such as No Bailouts – No Handouts – No Cop-Outs . . . Not sure if our leaders are having a bout with short-term memory but it was in his first watch for which just the opposite was done . . . they BAILED OUT – HANDED OUT AND COPPED OUT ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. “We the People” told Congress and the administration not to bail out the banks, but they did it anyway.

The past few weeks I’ve tried to drive home some important statements which were made during the State of the Union address; as well as some important infractions on our liberty, which are occurring across our nation. “We the People” are under attack by government. “We the People” still hold the deck of cards--the Constitution & the Declaration of Independence. But these cards are only useful if we actually play them, so-to-speak. “We the People” need to yearn for liberty . . .

Did you hear that? It was the voice of tyranny . . .

President Obama made a statement in his campaign/state-of-the-union address that is very important to understand. “All branches (of government) need to change and give me more authority so that I can consolidate the federal bureaucracy.” This statement is a blatant attack on our Republic form of government and against “We the People.”

Limiting the powers from the branches of our government and adding to the position of the president is not a good thing. We already suffer from “edicts from the king” wannabes in our government. Our government was set up with three branches in order to have checks and balances, ensuring that none had exclusive power. The President of the United States is not to be a king of the United States… he (or she) is not to rule the people through executive orders and he (or she) is not to rule through government bureaucracy.

President Obama made the statement that rules, regulations and restrictions have not destroyed America’s free market but made it better. These rules, regulations and restrictions on American businesses and exports have most definitely hurt American industry, businesses, jobs and our economy. These rules, regulations and restrictions are another way “We the People” are being governed by bureaucracy and he wants more power to “consolidate” bureaucracy – not to eliminate any bureaucracy. “We the People” need to beware of the double talk we hear not only from the position of president but from all politicians.

The President also spoke in regards to education. We all believe in educating our children – what he stated will add to bureaucracy and take away from states’ rights. He declared that all students should be required to receive their high school diploma and states should mandate that each student remain in school until the age of 18. While we believe in educating our sons and daughters, do we not also believe in the freedom of choice? This proposal made during the state of the union address will bring down more federal mandates onto the states and our local schools. I can see where this will cause more difficultly for our high school teachers as they have more students; unwilling students. Making education a law does not make educating the children a sure thing.

President Obama told Congress to send him a bill to “Create Jobs,” but government cannot create jobs! He clamored on about how we need to tax the rich 30% - These are the people that can create jobs – NOT GOVERNMENT! If government continues to punish the rich and regulate their businesses, we will soon be “We the People” of a country that is nothing more than a “service” country. Tourism to America; while we serve at amusement parks, restaurants, filling stations, motels and other service for pay. We will no longer have factories, industry, independent farmers and ranchers or any private businesses; gone will be the true wealth of the American dream.

Name me one thing that government has fixed yet? There is nothing it has ever done that has accomplished anything. Bureaucrats have regulated, mandated and restricted the US from being competitive in our industries, increased taxation on cigarettes has not lessened those people who want to smoke, higher taxes on fuel has not compelled our citizens to drive less and save energy; throwing more money into education will not ensure students will excel in education and green laws will not make a difference in the so-called war on “Climate Change.”– None of these “government plans” have worked nor will they ever accomplish the government-declared fixes.

Big Government is the problem in the United States. It is not the way we were meant to be governed.

“We the People” are the only ones that can make a difference.

Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg should resign or be impeached for her statement against our U.S. Constitution. She stated our U.S. Constitution was old and out of date while South Africa and other countries have newer and better “constitutions.” This is a woman that took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution – basically for the rest of her life. While she lacks integrity and understanding of our established government, she is correct in a statement she made. “A constitution, as important as it is, will mean nothing unless the people are yearning for liberty and freedom. If the people don’t care, then the best constitution in the world won’t make a difference. So the spirit of liberty has to be in the populaion, and then the constitution first, it should safeguard basic fundamental human rights, like our First Amendment, the right to speak freely, and to publish freely, without the government as a censor…”

Our current leaders from the Whitehouse to Congress to the Supreme Court are counting on “We the People” not caring – not yearning for liberty and freedom. They count on us to continue looking the other way and fearing their bureaucracy. So I ask you . . . Do you yearn for liberty and freedom? Have “We the People” been free and spoiled so long that we are now willing to go down that road of dependency on government and into bondage?

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back to bondage . . .
